Abstract
The first two orders of bridge diagrams are calculated
and added to the hypernetted chain closure.
Results for a hard-sphere solvent are shown to be
extremely accurate.
Results for large hard-sphere solutes in a hard solvent are also given.
The depletion force is calculated and shown to obey Derjaguin scaling.
Erratum
Plotting errors in Fig. 10 have exaggerated the discrepancy
between the HNCP theory and the simulations.
The Monte Carlo data should be shifted to the right by 1,
and the HNCP data should be multiplied by a factor of 2.
